The ICAL ‘23 Doctoral Consortium (DC) offers a unique opportunity for Ph.D., SJD, and JD students to participate in an interdisciplinary workshop guided by a panel of renowned scholars. The Consortium aims to provide a forum for students to share, discuss, and develop their research interests with fellow students and distinguished scholars. Midway through their program, with a clear topic, research approach, and some concrete progress, students are invited to apply for this opportunity to receive feedback on their research and increase its visibility.
In your conference registration application, please provide an overview of the structure of your program. All DC participants must meet all required deadlines, and a recommendation letter is required for all applicants. The letter should describe the advisor’s interaction with the student and assess the quality of their work. If a letter of recommendation cannot be obtained from the advisor, please include a brief explanation in your manuscript submission email to submissions@ijlet.org.
The Doctoral Consortium will be a virtual event with multiple sessions. The virtual event will be held over multiple sessions to account for time zones and maximize participation. Participants will be expected to engage actively in various sessions, including a virtual social event.
During the Consortium, each student will present their research to the group, with substantial time allowed for discussion and questions by the faculty and other students. Being accepted into the Doctoral Consortium is a prestigious honor that requires a commitment to giving and receiving thoughtful commentary to shape the field and upcoming participants.
The Consortium’s primary goal is to provide a forum for meaningful research discussions and build a mentoring and peer network.
Doctoral Consortium abstracts will be published in the Extended Abstracts for the conference and archived in HeinOnline, a premier online research platform, making our content available to global law school/research university libraries.
Submissions should not contain sensitive, private, or proprietary information that cannot be disclosed at publication time. Submissions should NOT be anonymous. However, the confidentiality of submissions will be maintained during the review process. All rejected submissions will be kept confidential in perpetuity.
After acceptance, authors will receive instructions on how to submit the publication version of their submission and how to prepare the presentation and the poster. They will also receive information about doctoral consortium registration and attending the conference.
